Gate Fold Valentine

Today I have the second card from the January Make and Take to share with you! This one was really fun! I cased this card from someone else, but I can't find her blog at the moment. I will update this post later with the link to her card.

Stamps: Distressed Dots, Take it to Heart, Delightful Dozen
Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso
DSP: Everyday Enchantment, Red Glimmer Paper
Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
Accessories: Heart Punch, Tasteful Trim Die, Extra Large Oval Punch, Corner Rounder punch, Two-Way Glue Pen

Cut two pieces of Crumb Cake card stock 4-1/4" x 11" and score both pieces at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2". Fold on the score lines. Stamp the half of the card stock pieces with the 2-3/4" score line with the Distressed Dots background stamp in Crumb Cake ink.

Fold the card stock on the 5-1/2" score line like you would for a normal card. Punch the top two corners with the Corner Rounder punch. Repeat on the other card stock piece.

Adhere the 5-1/2" long side of one card stock piece on top of the other 5-1/2" long section of card stock. Fold on the score lines as shown in the picture below. You want really good creases on your score lines so you may want to use a bone folder.

To punch the hearts use the Large Heart punch and insert the card stock all the way into the punch until it can't go any further. Then line up the point of the heart with the 2-3/4" fold line and punch. Repeat this on the other side of the card. Make sure that the card stock is all the way in the punch so your hearts will line up!

Stamp the hearts from Take it to Heart in Early Espresso ink on either side of the punched hearts. Cut two pieces of Early Espresso card stock 1/2" x 11" and run it through the Big Shot on the Tasteful Trim die to cut out the ric-rac. Adhere the ric-rac above and below your punched out heart on both sides of the card.

Cut a piece of Everday Enchantment DSP 4" x 5-1/4". Punch the top two corners with the Corner Rounder punch. Adhere the DSP onto the inside of the card. Stamp the greeting from Delightful Dozen onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock in Early Espresso ink. Punch out the greeting with the Extra Large Oval punch and adhere the oval onto the inside of the card close to the top of the card.

Use the Large Heart punch with some Red Glimmer Paper to punch out a glimmery heart. Close one side of the card front and adhere your heart in place using the punched out half heart on the card flap to position the glimmery heart.

Now your card is finished!

This is such a fun technique! I wonder how great it would look with some other punches. What do you think?

Elegant Coral Butterfly

Hello everyone! I'm finally getting around to posting the cards from the January Make and Take! Here is the first one!

Stamps: Thank You Kindly, Fresh Vintage (SAB)
Card Stock: Pool Party, Whisper White, Calypso Coral
DSP: Everyday Enchantment
Ink: Calypso Coral
Accessories: Elegant Lines Embossing Folder, Labels Framelits, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Beautiful Butterflies Die, Basc Pearls, Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots

The card base is Pool Party card stock cut at 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/2". A piece of Whisper White card stock was cut at 2-3/4" x 4-1/4". One of the long edges on the Whisper White card stock was punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch. A piece of Everyday Enchantment DSP was cut at 2-3/8" x 4-1/4" and was adhered onto the Whisper White card stock. This panel was adhered onto the card front.

Next a piece of Whisper White card stock was cut at 4" x 4-1/2" and was run through the Big Shot with the middle size Labels Framelit. The greeting from Thank You Kindly was stamped in Calypso Coral ink onto the bottom of the Whisper White label. The label was then run through the Big Shot in the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder. The label was adhered onto the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

A piece of Calypso Coral card stock was cut at 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" and was run through the Big Shot on the Beautiful Butterflies die. The butterfly was stamped with the floral image from Fresh Vintage in Calypso Coral ink. Basic Pearls were added to the center of the butterfly to create the body and the butterfly was adhered onto the label with Mini Glue Dots.

That's it! Super quick and easy! I really love how the Calypso Coral pops against the Whisper White and Pool Party! What do you think?

Blog Critique!

I recently signed up for a Blog Critique over at Truly Lovely to get some insight into other's opinions about my blog. This was very interesting! As I was going through answering the questions (which you can find HERE) I realized a couple of things I should add such as the quick share buttons for facebook, twitter, etc and to add some more personal information.

The lovely ladies providing my critique were Kimberly at Lush Lounge and Vikki at The Quirky Quail.

It was very nice getting to read someone else's opinion of my blog and get some tips on how to make it more visually appealing and possibly more functional.

Here are some of the fabulous things I've learned...

Having the "search this site" and "follow by email" options right at the top are a plus! Makes it easy to find and use!
One of the ladies let me know that one of the things she does not care for is the fact that most of the projects require specific items from Stampin' Up. She would like to see some of the posts where generic items might be substituted.

Unfortunately this is not something I can change. I do sell Stampin' Up products and I am trying to promote them and show different ways that they can be used. I could, however, start a feature once and a while showing how I created a card similar to another one but with Stampin' Up products. It's kind of a reverse of her suggestion. What do you think? Should I do this sometime?

My blog is easy to navigate and user friendly!

Add a few more steps in the tutorials...(Butterfly Wall Art)

Yeah, I missed getting every step-by-step picture on this one, but I was really hurrying to get it finished on time. I think for the most part my tutorials are thurough. I haven't received any questions on them. Please let me know what you think!

Try to incorporate some of the color from the header and background into the side bar more.

Done! I changed the catalog buttons from pictures of the catalog to a cute little button that I created in MDS! I really like this change! Not to mention I won't have to update the picture every time the catalog changes, just the link.

Add a little "About Me" section on the side bar so readers can meet the crafter behind the blog.

Done! I even added a picture. I personally find it nice to see a picture of the blogger in the side bar. I don't know why I didn't add one sooner. The "About Me" page has been updated too!

She really liked the part at the end of my Enchanting Thank You post where I mentioned one thing I really liked about the card. It adds a personal touch.

I will definitely try to do this more often! It's not easy for me, but I will try.

She suggested I ask my readers opinions on the projects more often or link to my shop.

I will definitely be working that in more. I so love to read all of the wonderful comments I get and get your opinon!

Post divider image....

I've seen other blogs with this and it looks wonderful. I would love to add one, but don't know how. If you know to add one of these please e-mail me some tips so I can add one!

Bullet list supplies line and try to break up the paragraphs a bit.

I have been using a bullet list for the supplies and I will try to break up the paragraphs so it is easier to read through.

Blog footer....nothing there, but thats not bad

I decided to move my "create" definition from the side bar, where it didn't really stand out, and change it to a picture that fits the same theme as the header and background. It's in the footer all the way at the bottom. Also, anyone know how to change the color of the bottom box? I really would prefer it to be white instead of grey, but I can't figure out how to change it.

Add more personal flair!

I will try to make it more personal. It's not easy for me since I don't know if my readers care to hear about personal stuff or would rather just look at the projects. I'm not good at jokes so I just stumped as to what to do.

Are there any other suggestions that you have? I would love to hear them! I really want to make my blog easy to use/read and make is something you enjoy looking at!

Do you want to see more "other crafts" than just cards? Should I try to work in some scrapbook pages? Is there anything specific that you would like to see or learn more about? Please let me know!

American Girl Crochet Dainty Ruffles Party Dress

This is another Christmas gift that I made! These pretty American Girl dresses were for two of my nieces. Although they recived them a little bit after Christmas because all those little ruffles took a lot longer than I thought they woud! Here is the first one:

After finishing the second one I realized I had made a mistake, but I'm not gonna tell you what it is. However, I have made sure that the pattern IS correct.

I searched and searched all over the internet for a crochet pattern to create a pretty ruffled party dress for my nieces dolls, but I couldn't find one that I liked. So....I decided to just create my own pattern! It's not very easy. It involves a lot of stitching, then pulling it back out, stiching again, repeat until it looked just right. Getting the bodice to fit and look right was the hardest part, once I got to the skirt it was a breeze!

Here is the free pattern so you can make one of your own!

Flirtatious Wisteria

Here is another card that I created based on a sketch challenge from Stampin' Connection. This one is a pocket card! Instead of opening up like a regular card you just write your message on the label inside the pocket! Take a look:

Stamps: Posy Punch, Tagtastic, Precious Butterflies
Card Stock: Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, So Saffron
DSP: Flirtatious
Ink: So Saffron, Wisteria Wonder
Accessories: Top Note Die, Paper Snips, Curly Label Punch, Rhinestones, XL Flower Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Summer Sun brad (retired), Sticky Strip

Here is the sketch that was created by yours truly:

To make this card I started off by cutting two pieces of Wisteria Wonder card stock 4-1/4" x 11" and scored both of them at 5-1/2". To cut the diagonal line just position the card stock with the point of one corner and the edge of the scored line on the opposite side lined up with the cutting blade on your paper cutter. Then cut. Repeat with the other piece of card stock. Now just adhere the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" sections on top of one another so that the rectangles are on the bottom of the card.

Now to cut the DSP so that it fits. Cut a piece of Flirtatious DSP 3-7/8" x 5-1/8". Then line up the opposite corners with your cutting blade to cut the angle. Adhere the DSP onto each of the triangles. Place sticky strip on the bottom of the rectangles and adhere to the card base to create the pocket.

For the label in the pocket I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock and a piece of So Saffron card stock 4" x 5" and ran both through the Big Shot on the Top Note Die. Using Paper Snips I trimmed around the Whisper White top not along the stitched line the die created. I adhered the Whisper White top note onto the So Saffron Top note.

For the embellishment I stamped the flower from Posy Punch onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Wisteria Wonder ink. The flower was punched out with the XL Flower Punch. I used the flower punch again on a scrap of So Saffron card stock. Then I used my Paper Piercer and Mat Pack to pierce a hole through the center of both flowers. A Summer Sun corduroy brad was inserted through the holes and the prongs of the brad were spread on the back of the So Saffron flower. Stampin' Dimensionals were used to adhere the flower onto the top note.

Finally the label from Tagtastic was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in So Saffron ink. The greeting from Precious Butterflies was stamped in Wisteria Wonder ink in the center of the label. This was punched out with the Curly Label punch. A rhinestone was added onto the greeting just to give it a little sparkle, and the label was adhered onto the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Although it looks complicated it really isn't difficult to create a pocket card. The flower on the label is just a fun embellishment. Have you ever made a pocket card? Or any other fun fold card?

Enchanting Watercolor Painting

Here is the sketch that was created by Susie Nelson:

The card base is Pool Party card stock cut at 4-1/4" x 11" and was scored along the 11" side at 2" and 7-1/2". Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 3-1/2" x 4". I ran this through the Big Shot with the Adorning Accents Edgelits die to cut the decorative edge. I stamped the image from Fresh Vintage in Pool Party ink all over the Whisper White card stock to create a background pattern.

This was then adhered onto a piece of Pool Party card stock that was cut at 4" x 4 1/4". Then I ran this through the Big Shot with the Adorning Accents Edgelit again to cut a matching decorative edge onto the Pool Party card stock. Then I ran it through the Big Shot again with the Adorning Accents embossing folder to add the embossed detail that matches the cut edge. This panel was adhered onto the 2" flap on the card base.

A piece of Everyday Enchantment DSP was cut at 3-1/2" x 4-1/4" and was adhered onto the 3-1/2" long flap on the card base.

Now for the picture frame... ran a scrap of Soft Suede card stock through the Big Shot in the Designer Frames embossing folder and I cut out around the edge of the frame with Paper Snips. Next I used a Sponge Dauber with Champagne Shimmer Paint to paint the picture frame and give it a metallic sparkle. Then I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 1-3/8" x 2".

The flower image from Fresh Vintage was colored in with Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade markers directly onto the stamp. After I finished coloring the image on the stamp I sprayed the stamp with water in a fine misting spray bottle, then I stamped the image onto the small piece of Whisper White card stock. I don't know what this technique is called, but I like to call it the Faux Watercolor Technique because the stamped image looks like it was watercolored.

Then I put a single drop of Pool Party re-inker onto a scrap of plastic and picked up just a little bit of color on my Aqua Painter to color the area around the flowers a soft blue. After the card stock dried completely I adhered the small cardstock watercolor painting into the picture frame. Then I covered the image completely with Crystal Effects. This made the colors in the image even softer and look even more like watercolor. Not to mention it made it look like a piece of art behind glass in my litte paper frame.

The frame was adhered onto the Whisper White/Pool Party flap with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The greeting from Field Flowers was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Soft Suede ink and was punched out with the 3/4" x 15/16" Oval Punch. Next I used the Modern Label punch on a scrap of Pool Party card stock. I cut the length of the modern label down with Paper Snips and adhered the ends behind the greeting oval with the Two Way Glue Pen. The greeting was adhered onto the DSP flap of the card front with a Stampin' Dimensional.

I really had a great time playing around with making the "artwork" really look like a watercolor painting! I also absolutely love the Everyday Enchantment DSP with Pool Party! So much fun! Have you been trying any fun techniques lately?

This card was so easy and quick to put together! For the card base I used Soft Suede card stock cut at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and was scored at 4-1/4". Two pieces of Everyday Enchantment DSP (SAB) were cut at 1" x 5-1/4". The edges were sponged with Soft Suede ink. A piece of Very Vanilla card stock was cut at 2" x 5-1/4". The floral image from Fresh Vintage was stamped all over the Very Vanilla card stock in Crumb Cake ink to create a background pattern. The greeting from Curly Cute was stamped onto the right side of the card stock in Early Epsresso ink. The edges of the card stock were sponged with Soft Suede ink.

The DSP strips and stamped Very Vanilla card stock were adhered onto the card front. A piece of Silver Glimmer Paper was cut at 1/4" x 4-1/4" and was adhered vertically on the left side of the card. That's it!

I just love the vintage look of the sponged DSP and the sparkle from the strip of glimmer paper!

Apothecary Art Birthday

Today I have a card for you that I created using the SCCSC99 sketch on Stampin' Connection. Here is the sketch that was created by yours truly:

The card base is Pool Party card stock cut at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4". Next I cut a piece of the wonderful Everyday Enchantment DSP to 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" and adhere it onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock that was cut at 4" x 5-1/4". This was adhered onto the card front.

Then I used my Labels Framelits to cut the larger label from Poppy Parade card stock. Then I stamped the image from Apothecary Art onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock and cut out the image with the smaller Label Framelit. I colored in the stamped image with the Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke, and Pool Party markers. I tried to add some white dots to the flower centers with my White Gel Pen, but it needs to have the tip cleaned so I just left it as it was. The stamped label was adhered onto the Poppy Parade label. The label layer was adhered onto the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I cut a strip of Pool Party card stock 1/2" x 4" and stamped the greeting in Basic Black ink. I cut the ends into a dove-tail with my Paper Snips and adhered the greeting onto the label with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To finish off the card I used my Hobby Blade to cut a slit in the fold of the card and ran some Ruffled Pool Party ribbon through the slit, around the card, and tied it into a bow. So simple and easy!

Telescoping Snowman

I have seen so many of these across the internet lately and they are just adorable! Besides the fact that I just love snowmen! I knew I wanted to have this be the 3D project for the December make and take! So here it is!

Stamps: Serene Snowflakes, Snow Swirled
Card Stock: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie

DSP: Real Red Glimmer Paper

Ink: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Whisper White Craft, Pink Pirouette

Accessories: Petite Pennants punch, ½” Circle punch, Northern Frost die, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Word Window Punch, Corner Rounder punch, Large Scalloped Circle die, 3-1/2” Circle die, 3” Circle die, 2-1/2” Circle punch, Stampin’ Sponge, Two-Way Glue Pen, White Gel Pen, Pumpkin Pie marker, Basic Black marker, Stampin’ Sponge, Silver Brads, Sticky Strip.

One piece of Basic Black card stock was cut at 4-3/4” x 4-3/4” and was run through the Big Shot on the Large Scalloped Circle die. One piece of Night of Navy card stock and one piece of Whisper White card stock were cut at 3-3/4” x 3-3/4” and were run through the Big Shot on the 3-1/2” Circle die. One piece of Bashful Blue card stock and one piece of Whisper White card stock were cut at 3-1/4” x 3-1/4” and were run through the Big Shot on the 3” Circle die. The 2-1/2” Circle punch was used on a scrap of Whisper White card stock.

Using the medium and large Whisper White circles stamp the snowflake images from Serene Snowflakes all over the card stock in Bashful Blue ink to create a background pattern. Stamp the “Seasons Greetings” from Snow Swirled in the center of the middle Whisper White circle. Stamp the sentiment from Snow Swirled in the center of the larger Whisper White circle.

The edges of the Basic Black scalloped circle were sponged with Whisper White craft ink. Then the large Whisper White circle was adhered on top of the large Basic Black scalloped circle. Next the medium Whisper White circle was adhered onto the Night of Navy circle. Then the small Whisper White circle was adhered onto the Bashful Blue circle.

Here is where it may sound a little confusing. Place the largest circle with the stamped text right side up on top of the Mat Pack with the top of the circle on the mat. Now place the middle circle layer on top of the bottom layer, but make sure this one has the text upside down. You want the middle circle centered on the larger circle. Now pierce a hole through the top of the circles so the hole goes through both layers. Insert a silver brad and spread the prongs on the back of the Basic Black card stock.

Now turn the middle circle so the writing is right side up and the circle is above the bottom one. Now does it make sense why the writing had to be upside down? Now center the smallest circle on top of the middle circle and pierce another hole through the top of the circles and insert a silver brad. Rotate this circle out so you now have three circles that look like they are stacked on top of one another. See the snowman taking shape?

Use the ½” Circle punch with Basic Black cardstock to create the eyes. Adhere onto the small Whisper White circle with the Two-Way Glue Pen. Use a Stampin’ Sponge with Pink Pirouette ink to give the snowman some rosy cheeks. To create the mouth use the Petite Pennants punch on a scrap of Pumpkin Pie card stock. Now use paper snips to cut the straight sided triangle in half and round the corners on the wider end of the half of the triangle. Add some carrot lines with the Pumpkin Pie marker and adhere the nose onto the snowman with the Two-Way Glue pen. Use the fine point end of the Basic Black marker to create the smile. Now just use the White Gel Pen to add some glimmer to the eyes.

Now for the hat! Cut a square of Basic Black card stock 1-1/4” x 1-1/4”. Use the Corner Rounder punch on two of the corners. Use the Word Window punch on a scrap of Basic Black card stock. Sponge the edges of both pieces with Whisper White Craft ink and adhere the word window punch onto the bottom of the square. A short strip of Real Red Glimmer Paper was cut ¼” wide and adhered onto the hat to create a band. The ends were trimmed to match the edges of the hat.

Then a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock was run through the Big Shot on the Northern Frost strip die to cut out the smallest snowflake. Use the Paper Piercer and Mat Pack to pierce a hole through the center of the snowflake and the hat. Insert a Silver brad into the hole and spread the prongs on the back of the hat. Adhere the hat onto the snowman’s head with Sticky strip placed just at the bottom of the hat. When your opening this snowman you will be pulling on the hat so you want it to be adhered good and strong.

Now your telescoping snowman is complete! When he’s closed up he will just barely fit inside a standard A2 envelope. This guy required a lot of die cutting and paper piercing, but he’s totally worth it!

Butterfly Wall Art

This is just one of the many gifts that I made for Christmas 2011. I really like to give handmade gifts because I think they are a lot more personal. However, they take time which is why I was so behind on posting everything else, especially the week before Christmas. This year my goal is to start on Christmas presents right away so maybe I can actually relax and enjoy the holiday season more instead of working my butt off to get the gifts finished.

I got the inspiration for this project from Pinterest (the best website ever!). You can follow me on pinterest by clicking the button in my right sidebar. The inspiration piece was created by Gayle Wheeler and you can find her project HERE. I wanted to make mine much larger to fit the pretty frame I found at a garage sale. So here it is...with a tutorial too!

I found the frame at a garage sale for $5. It had a mirror in it and the most horrible gold paint. Sorry, I forgot to take a before pic. I painted the frame with white spray paint and sealed it with a layer of Sparkle Modge Podge that I already had. You can't really tell in the pictures but the white frame really sparkles.

My Sister loves sparkles and bling so I wanted to make sure this project had lots of bling!

1. My husband cut a piece of 1/4" thick plywood to the size needed to fit in the frame. I started off by painting the plywood with some leftover white house paint. It took three coats to get a good solid coverage.

2. I used Apple Barrel brand acrylic paint in the colors Cloudless and Carribbean. These were just the ones that looked "right" when I was browsing the paint section at the craft store. I also used Folk Art Floating Medium, it doesn't matter what brand, but it's a clear gel that kind of thins down the paint to make it easier to blend without making it runny; clear plastic cups and a cheap paint brush.

3. The ombre look really wasn't that hard to get. I started off painting the bottom third of the panel with just Carribbean paint, the middle section was just Cloudless paint. For the top I added a good squirt of Floating Medium into the Cloudless paint and used that to blend the middle color into the white. Then just to blend it all together really well I took the brush, still wet with Floating Medium/Cloudless paint, and starting from the top working my way all the way down I just brushed back and fourth. You can see the brush strokes in the paint, but it blended the colors together really well. Allow this to dry for 24 hours.

4. I wanted some type of text to be in the background so I used my Microsoft Word and chose a font and size that I liked and printed out all the words. I cut the words into strips and taped them together as necessary to make them fit within the width of the plywood. I taped one end down with painter's tape just to hold the paper in place. Then I lifted up the printed text and placed carbon paper underneath. I used my stylus from the Simply Scored to trace the letters and transfer them onto the plywood.

Here is what the text says:

Create: To produce through artistic or imaginative effort. Create and inspire. To make your own.

Inspire To cause or create new ideas. Fresh thought; to influence. To motivate one to action.

Share: To participate in, use, enjoy, or experience jointly or in turns. To enjoy with others.

Creativity: The ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns and relationships to create meaningful new ideas; originality or imagination.

Note: I had written over the carbon lines with a turquoise sharpie because I was afraid that the glitter glue would not cover completely. You don't have to worry about this. As long as your using a colored glitter glue your text lines will be completely covered and you won't be able to see them.

5. I used my electronic cutter with the Home Decor Solutions Cartridge. I already had a package of vinyl that was 12" x 24". I used the 12" x 24" mat with the vinyl to cut out the swirl image as large as I could. Enter in the page size (12" x 24") and select Fit to Page. This gave me the largest possible image. Once the image was finished cutting instead of removing the outside of the image I removed the image itself. I wanted the negative to use as a mask. Then I used Transfer paper to remove the vinyl from the cutting mat and placed it onto the plywood at and angle. I repeat the steps to cut another image. This only took two 12" x 24" sheets of vinyl and two 12" x 14" pieces of transfer paper.

After both images were on the plywood I covered the remainder of the plywood with brown packing paper and painter's tape. I wanted only my swirl image exposed. Then I took the plywood outside and sprayed it with Krylon Glitter Blast spray paint in Diamond Dust. This was a clear irridescent sparkle, but they have lots of colors too. I wanted this to be just a subtle glittery swirl so I used the clear irridescent. Once the paint was allowed to dry for about 5 minutes or so I removed the vinyl, painter's tape, and packing paper. Then I allowed this to dry overnight.

Here is what it looked like at this point. I really LOVE the glittery swirls! I have so many ideas of other ways to use this fabulous spray paint!

6. Next I used turquoise glitter glue (not SU) to write over the text to make the text sparkly. After the glitter glue was allowed to dry overnight I coated the entire thing in clear matte finish Modge Podge just to seal everything in. This was allowed to dry overnight.

7. I put the plywood into the frame and used a household silicone seal around the edge of the plywood so it stays put in the frame. Again, allow the silicone to dry overnight.

8. Then I used pieces of Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, and Melon Mambo cardstock with the Beautiful Butterflies die and the Beautiful Wings sizzlit with my Big Shot to cut out all of the butterflies. Then a variety of SU embossing folders were used to add texture: Perfect Polka Dots, Petals-a-Plenty, Elegant Lines, Manhattan Flower, Vintage Wallpaper, Snow Burst, Square Lattice, Flower Garden, Final Press, Elegant Bouquet. The butterflies were folded up a little and the wings were curved with a bone folder to give them some shape. The smaller ones were just folded up at the center.

9. To attach the butterflies onto the plywood I put a Mini Glue Dot onto the butterfly, but I also put a little Crystal Effects. The glue dot to hold it in place right away, but the Crystal Effects to hold it there forever. I don't know if they would have fallen off eventually, but we have pretty high humidity here in Kansas in the summer and I at least wanted to try to make it last a long time. The small butteflies were adhered just with Crystal Effects.

10. After all of the butteflies were added I added Basic Rhinestones to make the body of every...single...buttefly. This took about an hour to do, which I was doing Christmas morning while we were waiting for everyone to arrive. Yeah, I barely got this one done in time.

I've noticed on some of my other projects that after a while some of the rhinestones my fall off of the project. I didn't want this happening on this wall art and Crystal Effects is some really tough stuff when it dries. So, to make sure non of the rhinestones fall off I put a line of Crystal Effects ever the rhinestones just to make sure they stay in place forever. This was allowed to dry and the project was done....Finally!

This certainly took a lot of drying time between the various layers, but I really love how it turned out! I might make a smaller version for myself.

The card base is Marina Mist card stock cut at 4-1/4” x 11” and scored at 5-1/2”. A piece of Whisper White card stock was cut at 2-1/4” x 5”. The greeting from My Friend was stamped in the bottom right corner in Marina Mist ink. The flowers from Simply Soft were stamped five times across the top of the card stock in Black Stazon ink.

The flowers were colored in with Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, and Always Artichoke markers and the White gel pen. A piece of 5/8” Bashful Blue Satin ribbon was wrapped around the card stock and tied into a knot. This panel was adhered to the right side of the card front.

Then four pieces of Letters to Santa DSP were cut at 1-3/8” x 1-3/8” and adhered in a row right next to the Whisper White panel. One of my pieces wasn’t cut quite right so I ended up having to trim about 1/8” off of the bottom square after it was adhered to the card front. A butterfly was cut from a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock in the Beautiful Wings Sizzlit. The edges were sponged with Marina Mist ink and it was adhered onto the card front with a Mini Glue Dot. Three small rhinestones were added to create the butterfly body.

Stocking Gift Card Holder

This was the 3D project from the December Make and Take. I just HAD to use the Stocking die to create a gift card holder. I've seen so many of these on the web and it's just a really fun way to present a gift card.

Card Stock: Real Red, Lucky Limeade
DSP: Holly Berry Bouquet, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink: None!
Accessories: Stocking Die, 5/8” Bashful Blue Satin ribbon, Simply Scored, Petals a Plenty embossing folder, Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive

Two pieces of Real Red card stock were cut at 5” x 8-3/4”. Both were run through the Big Shot on the Stocking die. A piece of DSP cut 5 x 7-3/4” was run through the Big Shot on the Stocking die to cut out just the stocking shape. Now you should have three stocking shapes (two red and one DSP) and two each of the toe, heel, and cuff pieces. Run all of the toe, heel, and cuff pieces through the Big Shot in the Petals-a-Plenty folder. Adhere the DSP stocking onto one of the Real Red stockings using Anywhere Glue Stick. Apply a very fine line of Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive around the remaining Real Red stocking, but make sure you do not put any glue across the top of the cuff. Adhere the stocking shapes together with the DSP showing on the outside.

You don’t’ have to adhere the DSP to card stock before putting the stocking together, but DSP is pretty thin and I wanted my stocking to be stronger.

Now you should have all the stocking layers adhered together with a pocket opening in the top of the cuff. Adhere the textured cuff, toe, and heel pieces onto the front and back of the stocking.

Next a piece of Lucky Limeade card stock was cut 2” x 7”. With the 7” side against the top of your Simply Scored score at 1” and 5-3/4”. Fold on the score lines. Adhere the larger flap down onto the middle section with Anywhere Glue Stick. A strip of Silver Glimmer paper was cut at ½” x 1-1/4” and this was adhered in the center of the larger flap. A bow was tied in a piece of 5/8” Bashful Blue Satin ribbon and adhered to the top of the Silver Glimmer paper with Mini Glue Dots.

Now just fold the shorter flap up towards the middle, place your gift card inside the fold, and slide this into the pocket on your stocking.

Note: No I did not give anyone a Walgreens gift card. This is just one of the many store discount cards that I have and rarely use. I keep it in my craft room so I can make my gift card holders the proper size.

I could have decorated the stocking more, but I wanted to keep it pretty simple for the ladies at the make and take and the pattern on the DSP was busy enough to make up for the lack of décor. But this made a fun gift card holder with the little present sticking out of the stocking.

Vintage Stocking Christmas

Accessories: Decorative Label Punch, 2-3/8” Scalloped Circle punch, 1-3/4” Circle punch, Stocking punch, Early Espresso baker’s twine, Mini Jingle Bells, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Silver Brads, Stampin’ Sponge, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Snow Burst embossing folder.

The card base was cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4”. A piece of Frostwood Lodge DSP was cut at 2” x 5-1/2”, a piece of Very Vanilla card stock was cut at 2-1/4” x 5-1/2”, and a piece of Always Artichoke card stock was cut at 3” x 5-1/2”. All of the pieces, including the card front, were sponged with Early Espresso ink. The DSP was adhered onto the Very Vanilla, this was then adhered onto the Early Espresso, and finally the panel was adhered onto the card front. The greeting from Teeny Tiny wishes was stamped in Early Espresso ink in the bottom right hand corner of the card front.

The 1-3/4” Circle punch was used on a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock. This circle was run through the Big Shot in the Snow Burst folder. The 2-3/8” Scalloped Circle punch was used on a scrap of Early Espresso card stock. The edges of both circles were sponged with Early Espresso ink and the Very Vanilla circle. The Decorative Label punch was used on a scrap of Real Red card stock. The label was cut in half width-wise and the label halves were adhered behind the scalloped circle. The Paper Piercer and Mat Pack were used to pierce a hole in each of the decorative label halves and a Silver Brad was added. This was adhered onto the card front.

The image from Stitched Stockings was stamped in Real Red ink on a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock and was punched out with the Stocking Builder punch. The edges were sponged with Early Espresso ink. Then the Paper Piercer and Mat Pack were used to pierce a hole in the top of the stocking. A piece of Early Espresso baker’s twine was threaded through the hole and through a Mini Jingle Bell (I used a needle threader for this). The baker’s twine was tied into a little bow and the stocking was adhered onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Lots of sponging and lots of punches, but the result is a very vintage and masculine looking Christmas card.

Masculine Birthday

I needed a birthday card for my brother-in-law back in December and I was getting way behind on my sketch challenges so I used the SCCSC97 Sketch Challenge from Stampin’ Connection to start on this card. I also used some things on this card that may be unexpected.

Here is the sketch that was created by Susie Nelson:

The card base is Basic Grey card stock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4”. Next a piece of Basic Grey card stock was cut at 4” x 5-1/4” and was run through the Big Shot in the Snow Burst embossing folder. I just love this texture folder. It looks great on all cards, not just Christmas or holiday cards! This panel was adhered onto the card front.

Next a piece of Letters to Santa DSP was cut at 2-5/8” x 3-7/8” and was adhered onto a 2-3/4” x 4” piece of Basic Black card stock. The Curly Label punch was used on a scrap of Poppy Parade card stock and the label was adhered behind the bottom right hand corner of the DSP panel. This panel was adhered onto the card front. A piece of 5/8” Basic Black satin ribbon was wrapped around the card front and adhered in place with SNAIL Adhesive. The cut edges of the ribbon are actually in the center of the card front hidden behind the panel with the greeting.

Then a piece of Whisper White card stock was cut at 1-5/8” x 2-7/8”. The greeting from Happiest Birthday Wishes was colored in with Marina Mist and Poppy Parade markers. Then I breathed on the stamp to re-moisten the ink and stamped the image onto the Whisper White card stock. This panel was then adhered onto a 1-3/4” x 3” piece of Poppy Parade card stock before being adhered onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Sparkly Snowflake

Here is the second card from the December Make and Take. I just love snowflakes and I wanted to share a really special sparkly one in this card. Take a look:

Stamps: Four the Holidays
Card Stock: Whisper White, Pool Party
DSP: Silver Glimmer Paper

Ink: Island Indigo

Accessories: Pool Party Ruffled ribbon, Snow Burst embossing folder, Ticket corner punch, Snowflake punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The card base is Whisper White card stock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4”. A piece of Whisper White card stock was cut at 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”. All but approximately 1” of the cardstock was inserted into the Snow Burst embossing folder and was run through the Big Shot. The greeting from Four the Holidays was stamped on the bottom smooth portion in Island Indigo ink. This was adhered onto a 4” x 5-1/4” piece of Pool Party card stock. A piece of Pool Party Ruffled ribbon was wrapped around the panel and tied into a knot. This panel was adhered onto the card front.

A piece of Pool Party card stock was cut at 2-3/4” x 2-3/4”. The corners were punched with the Ticket corner punch. A piece of Silver Glimmer paper was cut at 2-1/4” x 2-1/4” and was adhered in the center of the Pool Party card stock. Next a piece of Whisper White card stock was cut at 2-1/2” x 2-1/2”. The corners were punched with the Ticket Corner punch. Then the Snowflake punch was used to punch a snowflake from the center of the Whisper White card stock. This Whisper White card stock was adhered on top of the Silver Glimmer paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals. This panel was adhered onto the card front with more Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The negative of the snowflake reveals the shimmery paper without the hassle of trying to punch the snowflake out of glimmer paper and it adds dimension.

Here is the sketch that was created by Susie Nelson:

The card base is Lucky Limeade card stock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4”. Then a piece of Everyday Enchantment DSP was cut 3-1/4” x 3-3/4”. The edges were distressed and this was adhered onto a 3-1/2” x 4” piece of Calypso Coral card stock that also had the edges distressed. This panel was then adhered to the left side of the card front. Then two pieces of Lucky Limeade card stock were cut at 1-5/8” x 1-7/8” and were run through the Big Shot in the Snow Burst embossing folder. The edges were distressed and they were adhered onto the right side of the card front.

Next a piece of Whisper White card stock was cut at 2-1/8” x 2-7/8”. The border image from Fresh Vintage was stamped across the bottom of the card stock in Pool Party ink. The floral image was stamped in Lucky Limeade ink. Then the greeting from Teeny Tiny wishes was stamped in the upper left hand corner in Calypso Coral ink. This panel was adhered onto a 2-1/2” x 3” piece of Lucky Limeade card stock. Then this was adhered onto a 2-1/2” x 3-1/4” piece of Pool Party card stock. This panel was adhered onto the center of the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The large flower-type image was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Pool Party ink and then was punched out with the 1” Circle punch. The Paper Piercer and Mat Pack were used to pierce a hole in the center and a glimmer brad was added. This was adhered onto the card front with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

Frostwood Christmas

This is the first card from the December Make and Take. I wanted something super simple and pretty so show that Christmas cards don’t have to be terribly time consuming to be gorgeous. Take a look:

Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Bright Hopes
Cardstock: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler
DSP: Frostwood Lodge
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Versamark
Accessories: Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Heat Tool, Scallop Trim border punch, Cherry Cobbler Dotted Scallop ribbon

The card base is Whisper White card stock cut at 4-1/4” x 11” and scored at 5-1/2”. The swirls from Baroque Motifs were stamped onto the card front in Versamark ink. Iridescent Ice embossing powder was poured over the stamped image, the excess tapped off, and heated with the Heat Tool.

A piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock was cut at 1” x 4-1/4” and one long edge was punched with the Scallop Trim border punch. This was adhered behind the top of a 2” x 4-1/4” piece of Frostwood Lodge DSP. This was adhered onto the card front. A piece of Cherry Cobbler Dotted Scallop ribbon was wrapped around the card front and tied into a knot. The greeting from Bright Hopes was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink in the upper left hand corner of the card front.

This card was super quick and super easy. The swirls look so sparkly and wonderful in real life. The picture just does not show it well enough.

Poppy Parade Just for You

There are some colors that I just really struggle when figuring out how to use them. Poppy Parade is definitely one of them. It is just such a bright red-orange color that I find difficult to work with. So I decided to work with it on this card and I think it turned out pretty good.

The card base is Poppy Parade card stock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4”. The border image from Fresh Vintage was stamped along the right side of the card front in Basic Grey ink. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the image and stamped it a second time to create a border the length of the card.

A piece of Everyday Enchantment DSP was cut at 2” x 5”. The edges were sponged with Pool Party ink and the DSP was adhered onto the left side of the card front. Next a piece of Everyday Enchantment DSP was cut at 1-1/2” x 4”. The edges were sponged with Poppy Parade ink and this panel was adhered in the center of the card front.

The small flower from Fresh Vintage was stamped twice in Pool Party ink onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock. These were punched out with the 1” Circle punch and were sponged around the edges with Poppy Parade ink. The greeting from Precious Butterflies was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Poppy Parade ink. This was punched out with the 1-3/4” x 7/8” Oval punch. The edges were sponged with Pool Party ink. The oval was adhered in the middle of the card with the 1” circles above and below all with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Rhinestones were added to each punched piece just to give the card some sparkle.

Once I decided I was going to use this color the card came together really fast!

You're in My Heart

The new Occasions Mini Catalog is now live! That means lots and lots of fabulous new products just waiting to be played with! There are wayyyyyyy too many things in this catalog that I want. I did manage to order a few things during the demonstrator pre-order period and I finally had a chance to play with them recently. This is the very first card I created with some of my new toys!

Stamps: I (Heart) Hearts, Word Play
Card Stock: Whisper White, Basic Grey
DSP: Real Red Glimmer Paper
Ink: Basic Grey, Versamark

Accessories: Black embossing powder, Heat Tool, Owl punch, Adorning Accents framelits, Adorning Accents embossing folder, Twp-Way Glue Pen

The card base is Basic Grey card stock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4”. A piece of Whisper White card stock was cut at 3-1/2” x 5-1/2”. I used my new Adorning Accents framelits die to cut the edge of the card stock with that pretty curvy edge. Then I adhered the Whisper White card stock onto the card front making sure to line up the straight edge of the card stock with the fold of the card front. Then I used the framelit die again to cut the edge of the card front to match. So much fun! To dress it up a little more I used the coordinating Adorning Accents embossing folder to add a de-bossed edge to the card front. Wow! I love, love, LOVE these new framelits!

To give the card some extra special sparkle I cut a piece of Real Red Glimmer Paper 1-1/4” x 5-1/2” and adhered it on the bottom of the inside of the card. Now for some stamping! I stamped the heart image from I (Heart) Hearts in Basic Grey ink onto the card front. Then I stamped the greeting from Word Play in Versamark ink onto the card front. I covered the greeting with Black embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with the heat tool. Then I punched three hearts from the Owl punch from Real Red Glimmer Paper and adhered them onto the card front with the Two-Way Glue Pen.

I just love this Fresh Vintage stamp set and Everyday Enchantment DSP that you will be able to get for free during Sale-a-Bration!

The card base is Pool Party card stock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4”. A piece of Everyday Enchantment DSP was cut at 2-3/4” x 4-1/4” and was adhered onto the bottom of the card front. A scrap of Whisper White that was at least ½” x 4-1/4” was run through the Big Shot on the Tasteful Trim die to cut out the ric-rac. This was adhered over the top edge of the DSP.

Next a piece of Whisper White card stock was cut at 2-1/2” x 2-1/2”. The flower image from Fresh Vintage was colored in with Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, and Calypso Coral markers. Then I breathed on the stamp to re-moisten the ink and stamped the image onto the card stock. This was adhered onto a 2-5/8” x 2-5/8” piece of Calypso Coral card stock before being adhered onto the card front.

The greeting from Happiest Birthday Wishes was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Pool Party ink. The image was cut out with paper snips just around the largest circle line. The Scallop Circle punch was used on a scrap of Pool Party card stock. The greeting was adhered onto the scalloped circle and was adhered onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This card was so quick and easy to put together! Thanks for the great sketch Liz!

Be My Valentine

I have quite a few sketches to catch up on so you will see lots of them this week and next week as well as the cards from the December Make and Take and my Christmas cards! Whew! I guess I have my work cut out for me. Anyway...here is the first of many sketch challenge cards. This one was created for SCCSC100 on Stampin' Connection.

The card base is Pool Party card stock cut at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4". Next a piece of Whisper White card stock was cut at 2-3/4" x 5-1/2". A 3/4" x 5-1/2" strip of Everyday Enchantment DSP, which you will be able to get for free with a $50 order after January 24th (Sale-A-Bration), was adhered onto the left side of the Whisper White card stock. This panel was then run through the Big Shot in the Elegant Lines embossing folder. This panel was then adhered into the center of the card front.

The I (Heart) Hearts stamp set was used to create the heart images. One was stamped on Whisper White card stock in Pool Party ink, another was stamped on Whisper White card stock in Lucky Limeade ink, and the final one was stamped on Pool Party card stock in Island Indigo ink. The hearts were cut out with Paper Snips and adhere onto the Whisper White card stock.

Two pieces of Silver Glimmer Paper were cut at 3/4" x 5-1/2" and were punched on one side with the Scallop Edge border punch. This glimmery trim was adhered on either side of the Whisper White/DSP panel on the card front.

The greeting from Delightful Dozen was stamped onto the bottom of the Whisper White card stock in Island Indigo ink. The Small Heart punch was used with a scrap of Silver Glimmer paper and the heart was adhered on top of the heart in the greeting with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Fancy Favor Christmas Luminaries

This is actually a project that I made for a Make and Take last year, but never got around to posting. It's amazing what you'll find when you start cleaning up your photo folders!

Stamps: Simple Snowflake, Jolliest Time of the Year

Card Stock: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Whisper White

Ink: Basic Black

Accessories: 2-3/8" Scalloped Circle punch, 1-3/4" Circle punch, Northern Flurries Die, Fancy Favor die, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Gold Brad, Vellum card stock, battery operated tea light, Two-Way Glue Pen, Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive

The other side is stamped with a snowman.

This was super easy to make. Just cut out the Cherry Cobbler card stock large enough to fit on the Fancy Favor die. Run the card stock through the Big Shot with the die to cut out the box. Stamp the card stock with the Simple Snowflake image in Basic Black ink to give it a background pattern. Use the 1-3/4" Circle punch to punch a hole in both of the large side panels of the box.

For the Old Olive frame punch a 1-3/4" Circle from Old Olive card stock. Then line up the 2-3/8" Scalloped Circle punch so that the 1-3/4" circle hole is in the center, then punch. This will create your frame. You will need two of these. Adhere the frame onto the outside of the box with Two-Way Glue Pen. Next stamp the tree and snowman image onto a piece of Vellum card stock. Punch out the tree and the snowman with the 2-3/8" Scalloped Circle punch. Adhere these onto the inside of the box with Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive.

Next run a piece of card stock through the Big Shot on the Northern Flurries die. Pick out two snowflakes and pierce a hole through the center of each snowflake with the Paper Piercer and Mat Pack. Then use the Paper Piercer and Mat Pack to pierce a hole in the side of your box next to the "window frame" where you want your snowflakes. Use a gold brad to attach the two snowflakes onto the box.

Fold on all of the score lines, add sticky strip to the side flap and one of the bottom flaps. Form the box by adhere the sides together first, then closing up the bottom.

This creates a cute little lumiary to decorate for the holiday season and they are quick and easy to whip up for a last minute gift!

Winter Lake

Since I did two groups of projects for the 12 Days of Christmas Swap I wanted to give two different pictures for the 12th gift. Yesterday I posted the first one which you can find HERE. Here is the second picture from day 12 of the 12 Days of Christmas swap. This one is a cold winter lake.

Accessories: 5/8" Bashful Blue Satin Ribbon, Northern Flurries Die, Glimmer Brad, Mini Glue Dots, Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Post-It Notes, Brayer, Paper Snips, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, White Gel Pen, Stampin' Sponge

1. Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 5" x 7". Brayer to top of the card stock with Bashful Blue ink.

2. Place two post it notes where you want your horizon line to be.

3. Brayer across the top of the card stock with Pacific Point ink not covering the Bashful Blue ink entirely.

4. Brayer across the top of the card stock with Not Quite Navy ink not covering the Pacific Point ink entirely.

5. Brayer across the top of the card stock with Night of Navy ink not covering the Pacfic Point ink entirely.

6. Tear the sticky portion of two more Post-It notes and position them where you want your first row of mountains to be.

7. Sponge Night of Navy ink in the entire exposed area. Sponge Basic Black ink right at the torn Post-It note edge.

8. Remove the moutain mask.

9. Re-position one of the Post-It notes to create a seond mountain. Sponge the entire area with Night of Navy ink and then sponge along the Post-It note edge with Basic Black ink.

10. Remove the Post-It note mask.

11. Remove the Post-It notes from the bottom and re-position them to cover the top portion of the card stock. Cut the sticky part of two Post-It notes with Paper Snips in a curvy line. Place these over the bottom of the card stock. This will be the snowy bank of the lake.

12. Brayer the entire area with Pacific Point ink.

13. Brayer the top portion of the water with Not Quite Navy ink not covering the Pacific Point ink entirely.

14. Brayer the top portion of the water with Night of Navy ink not covering the Not Quite Navy ink entirely.

15. Remove all of the Post-It note masks.

16. Place two more Post-It notes along the horizon line covering the bottom portion of the card stock.

17. Ink up the top of the pine tree from Lovely as a tree with Basic Black ink. Stamp just the top portion of the tree several times across the edge of the Post-It note. Remove the mask. This creates a forest on the far side of the lake.

18. Take one of the curvy Post-It notes and position it in the remaining white portion of the card stock.

19. Sponge Bashful Blue ink just at the Post-It note edge to create a snow mound.

20. Remove the mask, re-position it, and sponge another snow mound. Repeat until you have the desired look.

21. Stamp the pine tree from Lovely as a Tree in Black Stazon ink onto the card stock.

22. Color in the trunk of the tree with Basic Black Marker. Color in the pine needles with Always Artichoke, add snow onto the pine branches with the White Gel Pen. Add lines to the water with the White Gel Pen. Apply Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive onto the snow mounds and the snow on the tree and cover with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Allow the adhesive to dry completely. Insert the card stock into the picture frame.

Tie a bow with 5/8" Bashful Blue Satin ribbon. Adhere to the frame with Mini Glue Dots. Cut one snowflake from Bashful Blue card stock and one from Whisper White card stock using the Northern Flurries Die in the Big Shot. Spray the snowflakes with shimmer mist. Use the Paper Piercer and Mat Pack to pierce a hole in the center of the snowflakes. Insert a silver Glimmer Brad into the hole. Adhere the snowflakes onto the bow with Mini Glue Dots.

For the 12th day of the 12 Days of Christmas swap I wanted to make something really special. So I created a sponged scene in a 5" x 7" picture frame. This one is of a field on a chilly winter night.

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree

Card Stock: Whisper White

Ink: Bashful Blue, Pacific Point, Not Quite Navy, Night of Navy, Basic Black, Black Stazon

Markers: Always Artichoke, Basic Black

Accessories: Post-It Note, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Stampin' Sponge, Brayer, White Gel Pen, Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive, Dazzling Diamonds, 5/8" Bashful Blue Satin ribbon, Glimmer Brad, Norther Flurries Die, Shimmer Mist (rubbing alcohol + shimmer paint), Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Mini Glue Dots.

1. Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 5" x 7". Brayer the top of the card stock with Bashful Blue ink.

2. Punch a circle from a Post-It Note with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch. Make sure to get some of the sticky part of the Post-It in your punched circle. Place the circle where you want your moon to be and place another post it note where you want your horizon line to be.

3. Brayer on Pacific Point ink at the top of the card stock not covering the Bashful Blue ink entirely.

4. Brayer on Not Quite Navy at the top of the card stock not covering the Pacific Point ink entirely.

5. Brayer on Night of Navy ink at the top of the card stock not covering the Not Quite Navy ink entirely.

6. Remove the Post-It circle. Tear the sticky edge of two Post-It notes and place it across the sky where you want the top of your mountains to go.

7. Sponge Night of Navy ink in the entire exposed area. Sponge Basic Black ink just along the top Post-It note edge. Remove the torn Post-It note mask.

8. Re-position one of the masks to create a smaller mountain.

9. Sponge Basic Black ink in the exposed area. Remove the torn Post-It note mask.

10. Use Paper Snips to cut a curvy line in the sticky part of a Post-It note. Place the post it onto the cardstock where you want your snow mound to be. Lightly sponge Bashful Blue ink at the post it note edge. Re-position the post it note and sponge another snow mound. Repeat until you have the desired look. Stamp the tree images from Lovely as a Tree in Black Stazon ink.

11. Color in the tree trunks with a Basic Black marker, color in the pine needles with the fine point end of the Always Artichoke marker. Add snow onto the pine branches with the White Gel Pen. Apply a fine line of Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive onto the snow on the pine branches and onto the tops of the snow mounds in the field and apply Dazzling Diamonds glitter over the adhesive. Allow the adhesive to dry completely. Add dots to the sky with the White Gel Pen to create stars in the night sky.

12. Insert the picture into the frame. Cut one Bashful Blue and one Whisper White snowflake from the Norther Flurries Die in the Big Shot. Spray both snowflakes with shimmer mist. Use a Paper Piercer and Mat Pack to pierce a hole in the center of both snowflakes. Insert a silver Glimmer Brad into the hole. Tie a bow in 5/8" Bashful Blue Satin ribbon. Adhere the bow onto the frame with Mini Glue Dots. Adhere the snowflake onto the bow with Mini Glue Dots.

Hot Cocoa Gift Package Tutorial

Stamps: Snow Much Fun, Warmes of Wishes, Serene Snowflakes

Card Stock: Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla

Ink: Black Stazon, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Versamark

Markers: Basic Black, Poppy Parade, Bravo Burgundy, Lucky Limeade, Old Olive

Accessories: Sticky Strip, Aqua Painter, Whisper White Craft Re-inker, 1-1/4" Early Espresso Striped ribbon (retired), Dazzling Details, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Post-It Notes, Heat Tool, Gold Embossing Powder, Embossing Buddy

1. Cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock 5" x 8". With the 8" side against the top of your scoring tool score at 3-3/4" and 4-1/4". Stamp the outside with the second largest snowflake from Serene Snowflakes in Early Espresso ink to create a background pattern.

2. Cut two pieces of Cherry Cobbler card stock 2-3/4" x 4-3/4". With the 4-3/4" side against the top of your scoring tool score at 1/4", 1/2", 4-1/4", and 4-1/2". (The black lines in the photos are only to make it easier for you to see where the score lines are).

3. Rotate the card stock 90 degrees so that the 2-3/4" side is against the top of your scoring tool. Score at 1/2" and 3/4". (The black lines in the photos are only to make it easier for you to see where the score lines are). Repeat with the other piece of card stock.

4. Cut the card stock on the score lines with Paper Snips so it looks like the image below. Fold on all of the score lines. Repeat with the other piece of card stock.

5. Place Sticky Strip in the locations shown with the black lines. Repeat with the other piece of card stock.

6. Cut two pieces of Very Vanilla card stock at 1-5/8" x 3-3/8". Using the snowflake cluster image from Serene Snowflakes stamp snowflakes across just the top of one piece and all over the second piece with Crumb Cake ink.

7. Rub the embossing buddy all over the piece with the snowflakes all over the panel. Stamp the greeting from Warmest of Wishes in Versamark ink. Cover the stamped image with Gold embossing powder, tap off the excess, and heat with the Heat Tool.

8. Stamp the bird with the snowball image from Snow Much Fun onto the panel with the snowflakes at the top in Black Stazon ink.

9. Cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock 2-3/4" x 4". Stamp the shorter snowman onto the cardstock in Black Stazon ink.

10. Use paper snips to cut a curvy line in the sticky part of a Post-It Note. Place the Post-It Note onto the card stock where you want your hill to be.

11. Sponge along the edge of the Post-It with Crumb Cake ink. Pick up the Post-It and move it to another spot on the cardstock. Sponge along the edge of the Post-It note.

12. Repeat Step 11 on the card stock with the snowman.

13. Place a drop of Whisper White Craft Re-inker onto a paint pallet or piece of plastic. Use the Aqua Painter to pick up the ink and paint it onto the snowman and the snowballs. Don't worry about covrering the buttons or face, you can darken these later with the Basic Black marker. Allow this to dry completely. You could use the Heat Tool to speed up the drying process if you're in a hurry.

14. After the Whisper White ink has dried color in your snowman and bird with the markers.

15. Sponge the edges of all three panels first with Soft Suede ink and then with Early Espresso ink.

16. Adhere the stamped 1-5/8" x 3-3/8" pieces onto 1-7/8" x 3-5/8" pieces of Crumb Cake card stock. Adhere the stamped 2-3/4" x 4" piece onto a 3" x 4-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake card stock. Adhere the smaller panels onto the Cherry Cobbler card stock panels that are scored and have Sticky Strip.

17. Remove the liner from the Sticky Strip on the bottom flap, fold the side flaps around and adhere to the bottom flap.

18. Remove the remaining liner from the Sticky Strip and adhere the pocket onto the inside of the cover.

19. Insert your two cocoa packets.

20. Flip the package over. Cut a 22" piece of ribbon and adhere the ribbon onto the cover with SNAIL Adhesive. Adhere the snowman panel onto the front of the packet with Stampin' Dimensionals. Close the packet, tie the ribbon into a knot and trim the ends of the ribbon.

Here is the finished cocoa holder open. After it was completed I added Dazzling Details onto the snowball and the snowman. I forgot to add it to the mounds of snow, but I will make sure to correct that later.

Snowflake Christmas Box

Today I have to share with you the final project from the November Make and Take. This cute little box was created with the Mini Milk Carton Die.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes

Card Stock: Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla

DSP: Holly Berry Bouquet

Ink: Cherry Cobbler

Accessories: Mini Milk Carton Die, Decorative Label punch, Snowflake punch, Modern Label punch, Word Window Punch, Chery Cobbler Dotted Scalloped ribbon, Crop-A-Dile, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals, Dazzling Details

I will explain how to make this as best as I can. After Christmas I will put together a photo tutorial for you. Cut two pieces of Garden Green card stock just large enough to cover the Mini Milk Carton Die. Cut out two milk cartons by running the die with the cardstock through the Big Shot. Cut off the milk carton section on the end that does not have the flap. You only need three sections on both of your card stock pieces. Fold on all of the score lines and add Sticky Strip onto the flaps on the sides of the die cut pieces.

Cut six pieces of DSP 1-3/8" x 1-3/4" and adhere onto each of the six sections of the milk carton pieces. Remove the Sticky Strip liner from one of the side flaps and adhere the two milk cartons together to make one long strip. Remove the Sticky Strip liner from the remaining flap and adhere the ends of the card stock strip together to form a hexagon. Adhere the bottom flaps of the box together. Fold the top section in so you have six mountain folds sticking out. Use the Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole in through the top of the mountain folds. Repeat this until you have a hole in all six mountain folds. Run a piece of ribbon through the holes and tie it into a bow.

For the decoration on the front stamp the greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Cherry Cobbler ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock. Punch out the greeting with the Word Window punch. Use the Modern Label punch on a scrap of Garden Green card stock. Adhere the word window label onto the modern label.

Use the Decorative Label punch on a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock. Use the Snowflake punch on a scrap of Cherry Cobbler card stock. Adhere the snowflake onto the decorative label with Two-Way Glue Pen. Adhere the modern label layer on top of the snowflake with Stampin' Dimensionals. Adhere the finished label onto the box with Stampin' Dimensionals. Add Dazzling Detail onto the snowflake to give it some sparkle.

That's it! These cute little boxes are really pretty easy to make. They would make fabulous party favors or small gift boxes!

Bright Hopes Stripes

Here is the fourth and final card from the November Make and Take! This one was so super simple and easy! Take a look:

Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Real Red, Whisper White

DSP: Letters to Santa

Ink: Real Red, Early Espresso

Accessories: Scallop Edge Border Punch, Rhinestones, Corner Rounder Punch

The card base is Crumb Cake card stock was cut at 4-1/4" x 11" and was scored at 5-1/2". A piece of green striped DSP was cut at 1-1/2" x 4". The bottom corners of the DSP and the card front were punched with the Corner Rounder Punch. The DSP was adhered to the bottom of the card front. A piece of red and white striped DSP was cut at 1" x 4" and was adhered at the top of the card front.

Next a piece of Real Red card stock was cut at 4" x 4" and two sides were punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. A piece of Whisper White card stock was cut at 3" x 4". The tree from Bright Hopes was stamped onto the Whisper White card stock in Real Red ink. The greeting was stamped in Early Espresso ink. Then the stamped Whisper White card stock was adhered to the Real Red card stock and this panel was adhered to the card front. A single rhinestone was added in the center of the tree for just a little sparkle!

This card was so super quick and easy to do. I wish I would have had enough paper to make them for my Christmas cards! But silly me, I always have to do something complicated for my Christmas cards. I finally have them done though! They are in the mail on their merry way to friends and family! I will share them with you later next week with a tutorial!

Here is the third card from the November Make and Take. I'm really trying to get all of the Christmas projects posted before Christmas! I'm not sure it's possible though. Anyway...here it is:

DSP: Silver Glimmer Paper

Ink: Black Stazon

Markers: Pear Pizzaz, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Sahara Sand, Basic Grey, Basic Blac, Real Red, Bravo Burgundy, Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie

Accessories: Top Note Die, Scallop Edge Border Punch, 5/8" Real Red Satin Ribbon, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Paper Snips, Mini Glue Dots

The card base is Basic Black card stock cut at 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/2" The end of the card front was punched with the Scallop Edge Border punch. Next a piece of Basic Grey card stock was cut at 4" x 4-1/2" and was run through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder. This was adhered to the card front. Then a strip of Silver Glimmer paper was cut at 4-1/4" x 1/2" and was adhered to the card front right next to the edge of the textured Basic Grey card stock.

Next a piece of Basic Black and Naturals White card stock were cut at 4" x 5" and run through the Big Shot on the Top Note Die. The Naturals White top note was trimmed with Paper Snips along the stitched edging. The image from Beautiful Season was stamped onto the Naturals White top note with Black Stazon ink and was colored in with the markers. The stamped Naturals White top note was adhered on top of the Basic Black top note. The top note was adhered to the card front and the portion that extended past the fold of the card was cut off with Paper Snips.

A bow was tied in 5/8" Real Red Satin Ribbon was adhered onto the top note with Mini Glue Dots. During the Make and Take I had run out of Real Red ribbon and had to substitute with Old Olive ribbon. The ones with Old Olive ribbon looked fabulous too! I don't know which one I liked better!

Christmas Candy Tin

Accessories: Mistletoe Ribbon Originals (retired), Sticky Strip, Candy Tin (retired), Designer Label Punch, Curly Label Punch, Ticket Corner Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Dazzling Detials.

Stampin' Up used to sell these candy tins, they are about the same size as an Altoids tin. I had ordered some of these off the clearance rack a while ago just in case I needed a pretty gift package. Well now was certainly the time! I used Sticky Strip to adhere the ribbon around the tin and then I tied the ribbon into a bow.

The DSP was cut at 1-7/8" x 3-1/4". The Old Olive card stock was cut at 2" x 3-3/8". The Very Vanilla card stock was cut at 2-1/8" x 3-1/2". All of the pieces were punched on the coners with the Ticket Corner punch and then adhered together. The panel was adhered to the top of the tin with Sticky Strip.

The greeting from Beautiful Season was stamped in Black Stazon ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock. The image was colored in with the markers and then was punched out with the Curly Label punch. Another curly label was punched from Old Olive card stock. Then the Decorative Label punch was used with Early Espresso card stock. Both the Old Olive and Early Espresso labels were cut in half width-wise and were adhered behind the greeting label. Dazzling Details was added to the edges of the Early Espresso label and onto the holly berries in the greeting label. This was adhered to the top of the tin with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Inside the tin were five Hershey's Nuggets. You never know what kinds of things can be turned into great gift packages!

Merry Christmas Ornament

This is the 10th project for the 12 Days of Christmas swap!

Ink: Black Stazon, Early Espresso

Markers: So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Lucky Limeade, Old Olive, Always Artichoke

Accessories: 2-3/8" Scalloped Circle Punch, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Snowflake Punch, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Simply Score, hot glue gun, Stampin' Dimensionals, Clear Tinsel Trim (retired).

I cut three pieces of DSP at 2-1/2" (I think...I forgot to write the measurement down) x 12". I scored each piece every 1/2" and accordion folded the DSP. Add Sticky Strip to join the DSP into one very long strip. Then use Sticky Strip to join one end with the other to form a circle. Cut a very long piece of ribbon (I used clear tinsel trim here) and thread it through the center of the DSP circle. Punch out two circles with the 2-3/8" Scalloped Circle punch. Heat up the glue gun. Carefully hold the lolli down flat and apply hot glue to the center, then place the scalloped circle on top and hold it there until the glue has cooled. Repeat on the other side.

For one side I stamped the bells from Bells & Boughs onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock in Stazon ink. I colored in the image with markers and then punched it out with the 1-3/4" Circle punch. This was adhered onto one of the scalloped circles in the center of the lolli. For the other side I stamped the greeting from Teeny Tiny wishes onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock and punched it out with the Word Window punch. This was layered onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler punched with the Modern Label punch. A snowflake was punched form Early Espresso cardstock with the Snowflake punch and it was adhered behind the modern label. Dazzling Details was added to the snowflake to give it some sparkle. After the Dazzling Details dried the label was adhered to the other scalloped circle with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Then the ends of the Tinsel Trim were tied into a knot so the ornament could hag on a Christmas tree, or onrmanent hanger in this case.

So much fun and so easy to make!

1. Cut one piece of Bravo Burgundy card stock 4-1/4" x 5-1/2". Score parallel to the 4-1/4" side at 1/2".

2.Cut one piece of Bravo Burgundy card stock 4-1/4" x 8-1/2". Score parallel to the 4-1/4" side at 4-1/4". Adhere the 1/2" wide section of the card front onto the other piece of Bravo Burgundy card stock with Sticky Strip.

3. Now your Bravo Burgundy card stock should look like this. The 4-1/4" x 5" section will be the card front.

4. Cut a piece of Brushed Gold card stock 3-1/2" x 3-1/2". Run this through the Big Shot on the Scallop Square Duo die to cut out the larger of the two squares. Cut a piece of scrap paper at 2-3/8" x 2-3/8" to use as a template. Place the template on top of the gold scalloped square and draw around it with a pencil. This will be where you cut.

5. Use the Paper Cutter (item #104152) to cut on the lines. Or you could use a craft knife and a ruler to cut out the square.

6. Cut a piece of Vellum Paper 2-3/4" x 2-3/4". I used Vellum Paper because that is what I had. This works, but I think Vellum Card Stock would work better and would prevent the wrinkles you see later. Stamp the tree image from Christmas Lodge onto the vellum in Always Artichoke ink. Stamp the small snowflakes from Serene Snowflakes onto the background in Crumb Cake ink.

7. Apply a thin line of Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesvie around the inside edge of the frame.

8. Adhere the Vellum onto the frame and set it aside to dry. I also flipped the panel over and added dots of Dazzling Details onto the tree to look like sparkly little ornaments (not shown in this photo).

9. Cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock 4" x 4-3/4". Use the same template you used before to draw the square onto your Very Vanilla card stock. Cut out the square as you did in step 7.

10. Stamp the front of the Very Vanilla card stock with En Francais in Bravo Burgundy ink.

11. Sponge around all of the edges with Crumb Cake ink.

12. Sponge around the outside edges with Soft Suede ink.

13. Adhere the Very Vanilla card stock onto the card front. Use a craft knife and a ruler to cut out the window in the Bravo Burgundy card stock.

14. Apply a thin line of glue onto the backside of the scalloped frame.

15. Adhere the frame onto the card front over the window you cut out. I also cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock at 4" x 4" and adhered it onto the bottom of the card flap so you can clearly see the stamped tree when the card is closed. A piece of 5/8" Chocoalte Chip Satin Ribbon was wrapped around the card front and tied into a bow.

16. Here you can see a better view of the sparkly "ornaments" on the tree.

17. For the "ledge" that hold the card front in place I stamped the greeting from Christmas Lodge in Versamark onto a 1-3/8" x 3-3/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock. Gold embossing powder was poured over the stamped image, the excess tapped off, and heated with the heat tool. The edges of the panel were sponged with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede ink. This was adhered to a 1-1/2" x 3-7/8" piece of Bravo Burgundy card stock. This panel was adhered to a 1-3/4" x 4-1/8" piece of Brushed Gold card stock. Then the panel was adhered to the bottom of the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

18. I even used some Sticky Strip with some 5/8" Chocoalte Chip ribbon to wrap around the candle and create a bow. The 5/8" brad had the prongs cut off and was adhered to the bow with several Mini Glue Dots.

Here is the finished easel card in all it's glory!

I truly hope that those who recieved it enjoy it. Coming up with it and putting it together was really a labor of love and resulted in several pieces of scrap card stock trying to get the size just right.

24 Days of Christmas Day 7

I know I've been slacking on posting lately. Not to mention I fell behind on the 24 Days of Christmas swap posts. But I've been feeling the pressure of the holiday season. Every year I say I'm going to start earlier on Christmas projects. You see, both my husband and I make many of the gifts we give. So this time of year becomes very hectic trying to get them all finished on time. Each time I hear, or read, someone say "there are only # days until Christmas!" I get more stressed about completeing the projects I have left. In this case there are only 11 more days to go. Yikes!!!!!! I still have five projects to finish. All of which I will share with you after Christmas.

Anyway... enough of my rambling. I will try to get caught up some this week and next week. Here is Day 7 of the 24 Days of Christmas swap!

This is a cute little gift box filled with Ghirardelli chocolates! I could certainly use some of those right now!

Stocking Gift Card Holder

Here is the gift that I made for Day 8 of the 12 Days of Christmas Swap!

Stamps: None

Card Stock: Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy

DSP: Frostwood Lodge, Real Red Glimmer Paper, Silver Glimmer Paper

Ink: None

Accessories: Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon, Stocking Die, Snowflake punch, Stocking Accents Origianls die, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Sticky Strip, Paper Snips, Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive, Blossom Bouquet triple layer punch, Dazzling Details, Snow Burst embossing folder

I cut two stocking sets from the Stocking die in Cherry Cobbler card stock. Then I cut just the stocking portion from Frostwood Lodge DSp. The DSP was adhered to on of the stockings. The cuff, heel, and toe were run through the Big Shot in the Snow Burst embossing folder. The heel and toe were ahered onto the stocking. Sticky Strip was applied on along the backside of the bottom of the cuff. Then Very Vanilla Seam Binding ribbon was ruffled and adhered onto the cuff. More Sticky Strip was applied on top of the ruffled ribbon to hold the ribbon in place and to adhere this portion of the cuff to the stocking.

Next I cut a candy cane from Whisper White card stock and one from Real Red Glimmer paper in the Big Shot on the Stocking Accents die. I cut the glimmer paper cany cane and adhered alternating strips onto the Whisper White candy cane. This was adhered to the back of the cuff. A present was made by cutting a square of the DSP and using the Blossom Bouquet triple layer punch with Real Red Glimmer Paper. I cut the blossom in half and adhered blossom to the very top of the DSP.

A tree was cut from Old Olive card stock. The small shapes left from the blossom punch were trimmed to have a flat end instead of a pointed end. These were adhered onto the tree and the Always Artichoke marker was used to draw a line and make the glimmer paper look like Christmas lights. Then Dazzling Details was applied to look like garland. After the Dazzling Details dried this and the DSP present were adhered behind the cuff.

Finally for the ornament. I cut the ornament shape from Bashful Blue card stock using the Stocking Accents die. Then I adhered a scrap strip of Night of Navy cardstock onto the ornament and trimmed around the edge of the ornament with Paper Snips. To add some sparkle to the ornament I adhered a scrap strip of Silver Glimmer paper on top of the Night of Navy strip. Then I trimmed around the edge of the ornament with Paper Snips. This was adhered behind the cuff of the stocking. The cuff was finally adhered onto the stocking.

A piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock was cut at 2-1/2" x 3" and scored 1-1/2" parallel to the 2-1/2" side. This piece was folded in half and adhered to the top and bottom stocking to create a hinge. Next a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock was cut at 2-1/2" x 1-1/2". Sticky Strip was applied around the two short sides and one of the long sides. This was adhered inside the stocking to hold the gift card in place.

I will admit making all the pieces for the things that look like they are sticking out of the stocking took more time than I expected. But I really do love the end result!
